May 25 The PEROGY Event(Race) The Perogy race was another great day of MTB action. We had racers, volunteers, feed zone helpers, commissaries and photo takers. The camaraderie with in the club was very evident and I was so pleased with the spontaneity of everyone just doing what was needed. It looked good for the event and United Cycle to not only help sponsor the Alberta MTB Raceing group but to have such a strong club presence. Thank you so much. It was another fun day. All the race results are available at: ABA Results I have a few pictures and will get some more from our fabulous photographers. Ant one with additional photos please sewnd them to me. stew.sharon@shaw.ca May 18 The Bacon Classic and Enduro.I think the MTB races this weekend really told the story of what the Grass
Roots is all about. It was one of fun, team building and volunteers all sharing
the true spirit of our club. We were not the biggest or the fastest but I don't
think anyone else had as much fun. First to our volunteers and supporters. Thank
you. Sharon and Lauri for sitting out on the check points and ringing the bells,
Chris Wicks wife and Darlene for taking pictures. Thanks to Steve our
Commissaire for the event.
Race results will be up on ABA and Alberta MTB Racing and congratulations
to Saturdays Racers. Sport Women Alyssa(Podium Girl) Barker. Sport Men
Shawn,Trevor,Marc, Roger,Clayton,Chris W., Mike and Adrien. In Novice men Chris
H.,Stew,Gary and Steve D.
The Enduro was impressive from a team building concept. The Solo Riders.
Clayton, Chris W. and Chris H. pushed through the whole six hours. Dynamic Duo of
Alyssa and James along with Michelle,Trevor,Cory and Stew made up the Team
entries.
From a personal viewpoint this is a break through for Grass Roots Club
unity. Thanks to all of you for vindicating my faith in our Club and sponsor
United Cycle.

May 04 Frist win for the Grass Roots In Lethbridge this weekend Alyssa Barker placed first in the Women's Sport MTB race and then competed in the Road Race the next day finishing well in strong winds. Great work by Alyssa. In the Cat 5 Road Race Trevor Pombert finished fourth in a large field gaining some points that should have him moved up a catagory sometime this year. Clayton Stafford was 11 th in the MTB sport men Cat. however they have his son Kevin listed in the race results. Kevin was competing in the Bloosday run in Spokane on the weekend. Combining the MTB and RR over the weekend brought out a large number of racers. Good event by Headwinds in Lethbridge. The ladies Tue night MTB with the Sirens will start this week.
